Digimon: Heroes Episode 25

*New York city, Friday afternoon. In his room, Robert laid on his bed with his arms folded behind his head. He was puzzled since the night at Coney Island when Renamon kissed him. He still wondered why she did it. Just then, there was a knock at Robert's door*

Robert: Who is it?

Joey: *on the other side of the door* It's me, bro! Can I come in?

Robert: Sure.

*The door opened and in walked Joey with Lopmon on his shoulder*

Joey: You okay, dude? You've been awfully quiet today.

Robert: *sighs* Last night was…confusing.

Joey: Confusing, how?

Robert: *sits up* Well, Eva and I were attacked by a Seadramon, who had accidentally got zapped here. He turned out peaceful, so we allowed him to live in the Hudson. Me and Eva had a great time… then suddenly…Renamon kissed me…on the lips.

Joey: *pause* Okay…Run that by me again. Renamon did what?

Lopmon: I think he said that she kissed him on the lips.

Joey: *looks at Lopmon* You heard it too, huh? *looks back to Robert* So, why did she kiss you, dude?

Robert: That's the confusing part. She didn't say why. After she kissed me, she apologized and ran off. And that was it.

Lopmon: *looks down* Oh boy…

Joey: Just when you think you know a guy…

Robert: And now, I'm worried about her. Where she is, what she's thinking, and when she will come back to explain why...

Joey: Have you tried calling her cell phone?

Robert: A couple of times, but no response… No idea why…

Lopmon: Well, she can't be gone forever. Maybe she'll just come to you when she feels ready.

Robert: I hope so… I don't want anything bad to happen to her…

Joey: You kidding me, after all we've been through? Anyway, we'll leave you alone now if you want.

Joey: No prob, Rob.

*Joey and Lopmon left the bedroom, leaving Robert all by himself as he lay down on his bed again to think*

*Elsewhere, Renamon was seen sitting on a roof top, staring out into the city as snow lightly fell from the sky. She heard her cell phone ringing and took it out. She saw Robert's name on the caller ID. She reluctantly decided on whether to answer it or not. But she realized that she couldn't put it off anymore and answers the phone*

Robert: *on the other line* R-Renamon… If you're there… Please come over… I want to talk to you. Well… Bye. *hangs up*

Renamon: *puts phone away* Well…what other choice do I have…

*Later, there is a knock on Robert's window. Robert turned to see that it was Renamon, sitting on a tree branch outside his window*

Robert: Thank god. *goes to the window and opens it* I didn't think you'd come.

Renamon: I wasn't sure if I would myself. *climbs inside Robert's room*

Robert: Listen, I wanted to talk about what happened back at Coney Isl--

Renamon: Robert, I admit I was unsure of my feelings. I thought there was something more, and I thought that giving you that kiss would help with my confusion.

Robert: Love? Listen, Renamon, I know we're partners, but it's not like that. You know I love Eva. But that doesn't mean I don't care for you as much as I care for her as well.

Renamon: I know… After some thinking, I realize that I care for you more like a mother would her own child as opposed to a more intimate relationship.

Robert: With everything that you do for the team, we all appreciate it.

Renamon: *blushes and looks down, relieved* Thank you..

Robert: Oh, and… *kisses Renamon's cheek* Now we're even.

Renamon: *is somewhat stunned* Touché.

Robert: Now, I think someone else deserves an apology too, before tomorrow night.

Renamon: What's tomorrow night?

Robert: The dance.

Renamon: Oh yes, Valentine's day.

Robert: Exactly.

Renamon: Well, I better take care of that pronto, unless there's anything else we need to discuss…

Robert: Hmm... Nope, that's it. *smiles*

Renamon: Well, I'll be off then. Catch you later! *jumps out the window*

*Later, Renamon hopped around the rooftops until she found Eva's house. Inside, Eva was seen at her computer with Gatomon sitting beside her. Renamon then leapt into a tree and knocked on the window. Eva looked up, startled by the tapping*

Renamon: It's just me, Eva.

Eva: Oh, Renamon. Teleport in!

Renamon: *teleports inside* Sorry if I scared you.

Eva: It's okay. So… Are you here to tell me why you kissed Robert?

Renamon: Yes... and I apologize if I had offended you whatsoever. I told him the same reason I'm about to tell you: it's because I cared for him. True, I was a bit drastic in sharing my feelings that way, but now I care for him like a mother. Can you please forgive me?

Eva: *walks up to Renamon* Yeah…I do. *smiles and hugs her*

Renamon: Thank you, Eva.

*Back at Robert's house, Renamon teleported into his room, where she found Robert, waiting for her at his computer desk*

Robert: How did it go?

Renamon: It went pretty well, actually. *winks*

Renamon: Very well. I told her the same thing I told you.

Robert: See, that wasn't so hard. Told you we'd understand.

Renamon: *smiles* Heh… Well you better get ready. The dance is tomorrow, after all.

*The next night at the high school gym, a Valentine's day dance was going on as almost everyone from the whole school was there, dancing like crazy. Just then, Robert walked in, dressed up in a black tuxedo and bow tie*

Robert: God, I'm hot. *loosens his collar, nervously*

*Just then, Eva walked in next to him, dressed in a beautiful violet gown and gave Robert a kiss on the cheek*

Eva: Well, you certainly do look hot…

Robert: Glad you could make it, Eva.

Eva: Well, I couldn't say no... especially to you...

Robert: *smiles* Hey, If it weren't for Renamon, I wouldn't be here now.

Eva: We owe a lot to our Digimon for everything, from saving our lives…*holds Robert's hand, caressing it* to saving our relationship…

Robert: Yeah…

*Just then, Brad walked up to the two, dressed in a green tuxedo and with a smug smile on his face*

Brad: Hey there Eva, you lookin' hot!

Robert: *rolls his eyes* Oh boy…

Eva: Um, Brad, you know Robert's my boyfriend, don't you?

Brad: Hey, I just wanted to say 'hi' to you guys. You both look great. By the way, what were you talking about? Something about a 'Renamon'?

Eva: That's none of your business!

Robert: Leave, Brad, or do you want me to knock you out again like I did in the hallway?

Brad: Whoa, hey, I don't want any trouble!

Robert: Ooh, scared of me now, huh? Well, I bet you'll be even more scared when you know that Eva and I are--

Eva: Robert!!

Robert: *sighs* Nothing… Just beat it!

Brad: Okay, okay! I'm going! Don't need to get snippy… *walks away*

Robert: Eva, why did you stop me?

Eva: You nearly gave away our secret.

Robert: I know… But I can't take it anymore! I know superheroes keep their identities a secret to protect their friends, but look at how we're being treated! Yeah, we're called the Digimon Heroes but some people treat us like criminals!

Eva: I know, but sometimes we might deal with more trouble aside from Digimon attacks, like the government trying to question us or take away our Digimon for examination, or God knows what else…

Robert: *sighs* I wish we could tell them.

Eva: We'll just have to wait for the right time, that's all. But let's at least enjoy our night together.

Robert: Okay… I wonder if Kevin and Mike are here, too.

*Meanwhile, Kevin, who was dressed in a black suit and red tie, was talking to a girl at the refreshments table in the far corner of the gym*

Kevin: Hey… Sup? You like… Uh… Having a good time?

Girl: I was until you walked over here... *walks away*

Kevin: Whatever…

*Just then, Mike walked over, who was dressed in a white jacket and bow tie*

Mike: Bad luck as usual, dude?

Kevin: *sighs* When do I ever have any good luck?

Mike: Maybe it's your lifestyle?

Kevin: Maybe... I try to at least be friendly...

Mike: Who knows, maybe your luck will change. I mean, your life already did when the Digimon appeared.

Kevin: Maybe…but I want more out of life. I thought this lifestyle would help me improve, but…*sigh* I dunno.

Mike: One day, dude…One day. *grabs a glass of punch* Punch?

Kevin: Ehh, I'm not thirsty…

*An hour later into the dance, the DJ stopped the music and pulled out a microphone, alerting everyone to look at him*

DJ: Alright, people! It is time to announce the king and queen of the George Washington High School Valentine's Day dance!!

*The entire dance floor was shuffling their way towards the DJ's booth, awaiting the announcement*

Eva: This should be interesting.

Robert: Hmm, I almost forgot about this part.

DJ: *tears the envelope and takes out the card* And with a number of thirty-three votes, this years king and queen are…Robert Willis and Eva Doherty!!

*Robert and Eva looked at each other, shocked and speechless. Robert then held Eva's hand and ran up to the podium with her by his side*

DJ: Congrats, you lucky ones! *crowns Robert and Eva* So, as Prom King and Queen, let's clear the dance floor.

Robert: W-Wait a minute, how come we won?

DJ: Popular vote, bud. That's how it works. You aren't gonna worry about that during your dance, aren't ya'?

Robert: But… I'm not popular…

DJ: Hey, tell that to the guys that voted for ya, I'm, just the DJ. *places two crowns on Eva and Robert's heads* Now, go and dance with your queen, dude!

Robert: Just a moment, bud. Don't rush me! *pause* I wanna make a speech first.

DJ: Oh, okay. Sure.

*The entire room was hushed, as everyone gave their attention to Robert, while the DJ turned down the music until it is mute.*

Robert: *goes to the microphone* Thank you, everyone, for this great honor. I'm quite surprised that you actually picked us... Any reason?

Guy in Crowd: Because you kicked Brad's ass!!

*The crowd gave a few hoots and hollers over that outburst, as Robert tried to continue his speech*

Robert: *chuckles* Okay, makes sense now. Anyway… *clears his throat* We all know that New York has gone through some tough months ever since the Digimon began appearing all over the city and giving us trouble…

Girl in Crowd: Which is the last thing we need right now!

Robert: But luckily… Some of them are around to help us out, right?

Guy in Crowd: You kidding me? With all the destruction going around town? Doesn't look like they're helping out as much as they should!

Girl in Crowd 2: Says you, jerk! I think they're totally awesome!!

Girl in Crowd 3: Are you serious? A couple of monsters nearly destroyed Coney Island! My cousin was there and nearly got killed!

Robert: *sighs* Hoo boy…

Guy in Crowd 2: Oh come on, if they wanted to kill us they would've done it a long time ago!

Guy in Crowd 3: It could be a hoax! They could try and gain our trust and then use it against us!

Girl in Crowd 2: Hun, you're overreacting. Besides, they're not trying to destroy us on purpose.

Girl in Crowd 3: Oh, and the ones trying to kill us are just as innocent as them? Give me a break!

*The entire room was filled with various arguments regarding the Digimon attacks, as Robert, Eva, and the DJ looked on this with shock, that is until Robert lost his patience...*

Robert: SHUT UP!!!!

*The entire room hushed as the crowd looked at Robert with surprise, as well as Eva and the DJ*

Robert: *pause* I have a Digimon partner!!

Eva: *gasps* Oh no...

Mike: *eyes widen* Oh crap…

Kevin: *face palms* We're screwed…

*The crowd gasped in awe, then muttered about his announcement, wondering if it was true*

Guy in Crowd: Prove it!!

Eva: Robert, don't!

Robert: RENAMON!!!

*The crowd hushed again as they looked around the room, trying to see what would happen and where it would appear*

Guy in Crowd: What?

Girl in Crowd: What's a Renamon?

*Just then, Renamon materialized behind Robert. The crowd gasped in fright and surprised as they stared at the Digimon that had just appeared in their gym*

Renamon: Don't you mean a who?

DJ: *eyes widen* WHOA!!! This is heavy stuff!

Girl in Crowd: That's one of those monsters from Coney Island!

Robert: This... is Renamon... My partner. And we defeated Seadramon together. In fact, practically every Digimon that ever appeared!

Guy in Crowd: You're with this…thing?!

Eva: *annoyed* Hey! I have one too!

Mike: So do I!

Kevin: Same here!

Guy in Crowd 2: You mean to tell me that you guys are responsible for the destruction of the city?

Renamon: Please, listen to me. I know we've caused a lot of damage to the city with these attacks, but we try our best to protect all of you. I have no malicious intentions of hurting any innocent civilians whatsoever. And neither do my friends. But the Digimon that do come in to destroy everything are responsible for their actions, which is why we try to stop them. All I can ask from you all is to at least give us a chance. We're only trying to help... If you can't, then hey… *takes off his crown* Maybe I don't deserve this crown.

*The crowd was silent, contemplating the situation at hand. Could they really trust their lives at the hands of digital monsters and their human allies? Would they really be safe from danger with their help? This worried not only them, but Robert and his friends, as they were getting ready to leave*

Robert: Just what I thought. *hands the crown back to the DJ* Come on, girls, let's go.

Guy in Crowd: You know… I didn't know what to expect with these Digimon... until a giant dinosaur one saved my dad from one that had white armor and wings…

Girl in Crowd 3: Yeah, they did try and save us… My sister nearly got the axe by a pirate until one of those Digimon saved her.

Guy in Crowd 2: They've done a lot for us, they deserve some recognition.

Robert: Huh? *turns to the crowd* You really mean all that? Even after those horrible things many of you said earlier?

Guy in Crowd 3: We…have been kinda harsh about the whole Digimon fiasco…but that's because of everything that's happened, all the buildings destroyed…all the structures demolished… But we shouldn't be so negative on what your Digimon has done for us…

Robert: And you, Brad?

Brad: So, I'm giving my trust to two guys who beat me up, and a Digimon that might eventually beat me up if I say anything negative to you… *sighs* Do I even have a choice?

Robert: *smiles* Works for me. *takes back his crown* Thank you, everyone, for your trust. *takes back his crown from the DJ* Now, if you'll excuse me… I would like to dance with my queen.

DJ: I think you two deserve it. Clear the floor for the king and queen of the dance, folks!

Eva: Could you play Dancing Queen by Abba?

DJ: A good choice for a young couple like yourself... *takes the record out of the case and places it on the sound system*

*Soon, Eva and Robert held hands, walked onto the dance floor and slowly began to dance in each others' arms as "Dancing Queen" by Abba began to play*

Mike: WAHOO!!! Way to go, Rob!!

Kevin: *smiles* You deserve it, king…

Renamon: *smiles and crosses her arms* That's my boy…

Eva: Happy Valentines Day, Robert…

Robert: Happy Valentines Day, Eva…

*The two then closes their eyes and passionately kissed each other on the lips*

*Meanwhile, in another part of the city, a taxi cab pulled up to a street corner. The back door opened and out stepped Chris with Angelomon on his shoulder*

Driver: Here y'are, kid. You're lucky I let your dog ride along.

Chris: Yeah, thanks.

Angelomon: Um…Arf?

*Chris then paid the driver and unpacked the cab with Angelomon's help. The taxi cab then drove off, leaving Chris and Angelomon standing on the dimly lit street corner*

Chris: *looks to Angelomon and smiles* Feels good to be home, eh Ange?

Angelomon: A lot warmer too… Sort of.

Chris: Yeah… *looks down at his crest in his hand and sighs*

Angelomon: *sees Chris looking at his crest* Hey don't worry about it, Chris.

Chris: *smirks and pats Angelomon's head* Alright.

Angelomon: Happy Valentines Day.

Chris: Heh…Yeah. Right back at ya, Angelomon.

*Chris and Angelomon then walked down the dark sidewalk towards home*
